Mindfulness Stress Management

Focusing on four main concepts: mindfulness, self-awareness, self-management, and leadership. By providing participants with science-based “micro-practices,” this workshop aims to enhance and de-stress the professional atmosphere. Participants will learn tools to cope with stressful circumstances, communicate more effectively, and lead others through empathy.

 

Tools to be covered:

 

Mindfulness: Paying attention to what’s happening in the present moment: in the mind, body and external environment, with an attitude of curiosity and compassion

  • Neuroscience behind mindful practices and effects on attention and productivity

  • Acting on autopilot vs. a state of awareness 

 

Self-Awareness: Knowing one’s internal states, preferences, resources, and intuitions

  • Shifting awareness to one’s internal world and body

  • Intuitive wisdom of the body, mind and heart

 

Self Management: The process of noticing one’s internal state and actively managing one’s response to stressors.

  • Emotional Management Strategies: moving from compulsion to choice

 

Leadership: Setting a positive example in the workplace

  • Empathic relating through self-awareness

  • Mindful communication & active listening

 

Participation details: 

  • 1.5 hour Zoom session

  • Attendees will be expected to participate by asking questions and sharing experiences in smaller “break-out” groups.

  • Attendees will be asked to join the Zoom call from a quiet location, free of distractions;

  • Attendees are asked to bring a notebook and pen. Rigorous note-taking is not expected but rather to note down moments of clarity.

  • A recording of the session and slides will be provided to the attendees.

  • No prior experience of mindfulness or meditation is required. This introductory workshop is appropriate for all levels of knowledge and backgrounds.

 

Facilitator: Rachel Fisher is a meditation and mindfulness instructor. She is a masters degree candidate of Psychology and Education at Columbia University with a focus in Spirituality, Mind, Body practices. Rachel has extensive experience in leading group meditations and workshops, focusing on practical tools for enhancing one’s relationship to the self and to others.
